Due to the recent interest in oil and gas signs and formation traps, the need for seismic modeling methods has arisen and it can provide more information than was needed in the past. Meaningful Interpretation of Modern Exploration Studies often need to have both converted and diffracted amplitude information. Finite difference modeling of elastic or acoustic wave equations is one way of obtaining this information. This numerical method computes the amplitude of all the waves predicted by the wave theory. In addition, it is conceptually not limited by the complexity of the model in question.
