在我将近五十年的新闻工作生涯中,有两件终身难忘的大事: 一件是1994年1月20日,中共中央政治局常委会集体讨论人民日报的工作; 另一件是1996年9月26日,江泽民总书记视察人民日报,并发表重要讲话。 这两件大事,不仅是《人民日报》历史上的大事,而且是应该写人新中国新闻史的大事。作为党的最高领导机构——政治局常委会,专门开会研究一张机关报的工作;作为党的最高领导人,亲自到机关报视察和发表重要讲话,在建国后的历史上都是第一次。
In my nearly fifty-year career as a journalist, I have two unforgettable events: one is the work of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to discuss the People’s Daily on January 20, 1994; the other is the 1996 On 26 January, General Secretary Jiang Zemin inspected the People’s Daily and delivered an important speech. These two major events are not only the major event in the history of the People’s Daily, but also the major event in which we should write the history of new Chinese news. As the highest leading body of the party, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, held a special meeting to study the work of a government newspaper. As the supreme leader of the party, he personally went to the organs for inspection and made important speeches and was the first in history after the founding of the People’s Republic Times.
