This article studied the relationship between the chemical structure and hemolytic activity of saikosaponins extracted from the Bupleurm fal catum L. roots of Bupleurum chinense. It was proved that the 13β,28-epoxy oligobenzone system in saikosaponin is very important for hemolytic activity. Similarly, the number of C_(16)β-OH and C_(23)-OH groups and the branches of the sugar moiety in the vertical bond are also important for hemolytic activity.
