Stanley Kunitz (1905 ~ 2006) is one of the twentieth-century America’s most outstanding and accomplished poets. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry (1959) and was twice awarded the title of poet of the United States (19742, 000). His poetic style is delicate and delicate, simple and natural. Environmentalism was still a little-known concept in the 1950s, but the “cutting of trees”, published in 1958, raised serious concerns about the issue. The poem presents in various ways the human nature and the natural ecology at the brink of a catastrophic upheaval.
