Objective To investigate the status of HIV and Treponema pallidum among drug users and to explore the related factors that cause infection. Methods A retrospective analysis of 1,300 new detention center of drug addicts demographic information and behavioral data to detect HIV, Treponema pallidum infection, analysis of the status of the pathogen infection, summed up the relevant factors of infection. Results The prevalence of HIV and Treponema pallidum among drug addicts was significantly higher than that of normal controls (P <0.05). The prevalence of these pathogens among those who shared needles and those with risk behaviors were higher than those without the above risk factors (P <0.05, OR> 3). Conclusion The prevalence of HIV and Treponema pallidum among drug addicts is much higher than that of normal people. The sharing of needles and dangerous behaviors may be the reason of their high incidence of HIV infection.
