当代中国最先锋的艺术,也许就是MTV。最能取得当代青年普遍认同的音乐,是流行音乐。而以流行音乐为载体,并借助大众传播媒介,引起流行文化内容发生质变的,是晚近崛起的新生代。其标志是以北京、广州等市集结的一批音乐人,多数为自由职业者,以中央电视台“中国电视城”“MTV大奖赛”为契机,崭露头角的新一代的“创造主体”,同时,还包括以上述音乐人的作品为消费对象,60年代末至70年代初以后诞生的年龄组的“接受主体”。
