2013年,古城镇党委、政府在利通区委、区政府的领导下,认真学习贯彻党的十八大精神,深入开展党的群众路线教育实践活动,从改进作风入手,进一步创新发展思路,明确发展目标,以敢为人先、争创一流的古城精神推动经济建设大发展、城镇建设大突破、生态建设大改善、民生建设大提升、农民收入大提高。全镇社会总产值实现22亿元,比上年增长12.1%,其中二三产业产值达到21.6亿元,比上年增长10.1%;农民人均纯收入实现10840元;村级集体经济纯收入达到3600万元。2013年先后荣获自治区第七次民族团结进步模范集体、维护妇女儿童权益先进集体、自治区示范妇女之家、城乡居民社会养老保险工作先进单位、“五四”红旗团委;荣获吴忠市委学习型党组织和学习型机关建设先进单位、民兵预备役建设十佳单位;荣获利通区区委政府生态建设先进集体、城乡建设工作先进集体、招商引资工作先进单位、城乡环境综合治理先进集体、社会管理创
