宁德市位于福建省东北部,俗称闽东,地处我国大陆黄金海岸线中段和长江三角洲、珠江三角洲两大经济区的中心地带,是建设海峡西岸繁荣带的重要组成部分。全市辖一区两市六县,土地面积1.34万平方公里。宁德山海兼备,既有海的优势,又有山的特色。海域面积4.55万平方公里,海岸线长878公里,浅海滩涂9.34万公顷,均占全省三分之一;拥有官井洋、东吾洋、台山、西洋、二沙等五大渔场,是大黄鱼等珍稀海产品养殖的理想场所;港口资源得天独厚,拥有三都澳、赛歧、沙埕、三沙、下白石等天然深水良港,特别是三都澳港不冻不淤,50万吨轮船可随时进出,可建30万吨以上大泊位深水码头多个;
