威廉·爱德华兹·戴明(Wiliam Edwards Dem-ing,1900—1993),美国统计学家,近代质量管理理论的奠基人。戴明1900年10月14日生于艾奥华州苏城。在完成中学教育后,于1917年进入怀俄明大学,1921年获理学士学位,1924年在科罗拉多大学获理科硕士学位,随后进入耶鲁大学深造,1928年获哲学博士学位。戴明长期从事统计调查和产品质量控制工作,作出了重大贡献。
Wiliam Edwards Dem-ing (1900-1993), American statistician, founder of modern quality management theory. Deming was born on October 14, 1900 in Sioux City, Iowa. After completing secondary education, he entered the University of Wyoming in 1917, received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1921, received a master’s degree in science from the University of Colorado in 1924, then entered Yale University and obtained a Ph.D. in 1928. Deming has been engaged in statistical investigations and product quality control for a long time and has made significant contributions.
