The South China Sea movement is a tectonic movement occurred in the Cenozoic in the northern shelf of the South China Sea. From the end of the Cretaceous to the Quaternary, the whole process is divided into four scenes, each of which has its own characteristics and controls the tectonic development, magmatism and sedimentation in each period and becomes an independent structural system in the South China Sea. The Pearl River Mouth Basin, Yinggehai Basin and Beibu Gulf Basin are the Cenozoic sedimentary basins on the northern continental shelf of the South China Sea. During the formation, development and evolution of the basin, the South China Sea movement played a leading role, directly affecting the scale, shape and thickness of the basin.
