联合国1945年成立,其主要目的就是防止侵略和战争。自那之后确实没有爆发新的世界大战,但这很难说是联合国的功劳。在防止区域战争方面,联合国往往无能为力。本文作者玛格丽特·安斯蒂女爵士在联合国工作长达41年,1987—1993年任联合国副秘书长(Under-Secretary General)。她对怎样维持世界和平以及联合国的作用有一些真知灼见。
The United Nations was established in 1945, its main purpose is to prevent aggression and war. There has indeed been no new world war since then, but it is hard to argue that it is a UN credit. The United Nations often can not help in preventing regional wars. The author of this article, Princess Margaret Ansti, has been with the United Nations for 41 years and 1987-1993 as Under-Secretary General.
