This article describes an experimental study of the fouling characteristics of slits and capillary channels when they are contaminated by solid particles of smaller size than the channels. The experimental results show that the flow rate of the slit-type channel decreases gradually with the passage of time and the capillary-type channel suddenly blocks. The time required for the reduction of the slit flow rate and the plugging of the capillary depends on the degree of contamination of the carrier fluid and the relative relationship of the passage to the particle size.
