在银川市贺兰县发现的西夏文佛经《吉祥遍至口和本续》(简称《本续》),最近经文化部科技司鉴定,确认为是迄今为止世界上发现最早的木活字版印本实物。它对研究中国印刷史,特别是活字印刷史和古代活字印刷技艺具有重大价值。 《本续》是宁夏文物考古研究所于1991年9月在银川贺兰县拜寺沟西夏方塔中发现的,共9册,约10万字,皆为蝴蝶装印本。
The Xixiawen Buddhist scripture found in Helan County, Yinchuan City has been identified by the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Culture as the earliest known type of wood type printing so far in the world .
