严复、林纾的翻译之所以能产生巨大的社会效应 ,与他们根据社会需要及读者接受能力对文本和信息传递方式作出理性选择密切相关。选定翻译文本之后 ,采用哪种信息传递方式加以译述 ,应该充分考虑读者的接受能力。翻译根源于人类交流文化、传播文明的需要 ,翻译活动只有遵循一定的社会规范 ,重视语言与文化的时尚性 ,才能使翻译成为有意义的社会行为。可见 ,评价翻译 ,不仅要着眼于原著、译著与译者的关系 ,更要着眼于译品所产生的社会效应。译品价值如何 ,主要应从是否适应整个社会进步的需求这一角度来衡量
The reason why Yan Fu and Lin Shu’s translation can have a huge social effect is closely related to their rational choice of text and information transmission according to social needs and readers’ receptivity. After the selected text is translated, what kind of information transfer method should be used to translate it should give full consideration to the reader’s acceptability. Translation is rooted in the need of human communication culture and dissemination of civilization. Only by following certain social norms and paying attention to the fashion of language and culture can translation make it a meaningful social activity. Visible, evaluation of translation, not only to focus on the original, the translation and the relationship between the translator, but also to focus on the social effects of the translated goods. The value of the translated goods should be measured mainly in terms of adapting to the needs of social progress as a whole
