中国的绘画理论受到了儒、道两家思想的影响。儒家的“游于艺”思想认为绘画是调剂身心、抒情达意的手段,注重绘画的教化功能;道家的“逍遥游”思想则倡导在完全自由的游戏状态下作画,获得精神上的解放和心灵上的愉悦。而中国文人画提倡复“古”的实质正是“游于艺”与“逍遥游”自身的相互协调。
