To ease the overcrowding and landing congestion at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, Japan is currently building a reclamation project. Recently, the Ministry of Transport has completed the project of laying large-scale seismic networks around the subsurface in its enlarged part and began to exert its surveillance function. The main objective of constructing this underground observation network is to grasp in three dimensions how the entire foundation changes and bends during an earthquake and to obtain future plans to implement the airport and earthquake resistance when constructing large-scale facilities on soft ground such as the seafront data. In addition, it will also be used for the recovery of Haneda Airport, which is now directly affected by the earthquake. The Ministry of Transport has invested nearly 800 million yen in the construction of this new system. As the world’s most sophisticated equipment, caused concern about disaster prevention staff.
