了解一个国家,通常会从这个国家的首都开始。因为对多数国家而言,首都是当之无愧的象征,集聚着一个国家的政治、经济、文化甚至是精神力量。在我印象里,抛去文化内涵,似乎首都的样貌都差不多:庞大的城市、发达的交通、拥挤的人流、地标式的建筑,还有满眼的政府机构。作为首都的华盛顿,在美国诸多名城的熠熠光辉下却显得有些暗淡。人们会侃侃而谈纽约、波士
Knowing a country usually starts with the capital of this country. For the majority of countries, the capital is a well-deserved symbol that gathers the political, economic, cultural and even spiritual power of a country. In my mind, throwing away cultural connotations, it seems that the capitals are about the same: a huge city, developed traffic, crowds of people, landmark buildings, and eye-catching government agencies. Washington, the capital city, is a bit gloomy under the shiny glory of many famous cities in the United States. People talk about New York and Boston
