彭志忠教授是著名的结晶矿物学家,原籍湖北省天门县,1952年毕业于清华大学地质系,并留校任教,同年转到北京地质学院当助教。彭志忠20岁时就参加翻译了《结晶学原理》等5本教材,23岁与潘兆橹合作编出我国第一本《结晶学教程》。1957年,在唐有祺教授指导下,在世界上首次测出了葡萄石结构,突破了国际研究晶体结构的权威
Professor Peng Zhizhong is a famous crystalline mineralogist, originally from Tianmen County, Hubei Province. He graduated from the Department of Geology of Tsinghua University in 1952 and stayed in school for teaching. In the same year, he moved to Beijing Geological College as assistant professor. At the age of 20, Peng Zhizhong participated in the translation of five textbooks, such as Principles of Crystallography. At the age of 23, he collaborated with Pan Zhaoyuan to compile the first book on crystallography in China. In 1957, under the guidance of Prof. Tang Youqi, the gravel structure was first detected in the world, which broke the international authority to study the crystal structure
