Berggren et al. Reported that mice and rats that are heavily infected with Schistosoma mansoni have circulating antigens from Schistosoma japonicum. This paper reports that circulating antigens are also found in saltwater leachate of Schistosoma mansoni, Schistosoma mansoni, and Schistosoma japonicum as well as in serum of mice immunized with Schistosoma japonicum, and the characteristics of the antigens were studied. The authors obtained sera from mice that were heavily infected with Schistosoma japonicum, and also prepared homogenates of Schistosoma mansoni to immunize rabbits. The serum was also characterized by various immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis techniques.
