墨西哥的全称是墨西哥合众国。位于北美洲的西南部,东面是墨西哥湾、加勒比海,南面和西面是太平洋,面积196万平方公里,人口9740万。墨西哥是美洲著名的文明古国。墨西哥东、南、西三面是山,中间是高原(墨西哥高原),只有沿海一带有一个狭长的平原,因此气候较温和。但由于风的影响,北部广大地区的降雨量少,甚至全年不足250毫米,从而形成了大片荒漠。这种干旱的气候导致墨西哥成为了一个“仙人掌之国”。
The full name of Mexico is the United Mexican States. Located in the southwestern North America, the Gulf of Mexico is to the east, the Caribbean Sea to the south, the Pacific Ocean is to the west, an area of 1.96 million square kilometers and a population of 97.4 million. Mexico is a famous ancient civilization in the Americas. Mexico is the mountain on the east, south and west sides, the plateau (the Mexican plateau) in the middle, with a narrow plains along the coast and a mild climate. Due to the influence of the wind, however, the rainfall in the vast northern part of the country was small and even less than 250 mm throughout the year, resulting in the formation of a vast desert. This arid climate has caused Mexico to become a “cactus country.”
