在河南省平顶山煤业(集团)有限责任公司朝川矿,有条不成文的规定:每个矿领导班子成员都要领养一个品学兼优的贫困学生,从小学开始直至他的整个求学过程,做一个学生的全权监护人。这条规定形成于1998年7月,当时全矿14位领导班子成员,共领养了14名贫困学生。如今,5年过去了,有的领导已调离了朝川矿,但这项火炬工程仍在延续,领养的学生人数由14名增长到了15名。当初的小学生已从小学、初中毕业上了高中,尽管学费一学期比一学期高,但这些普通的共产党人并没有放弃他们的责任,他们依然默默在奉献着,用肩膀托起一个个明天的希望。
