“accumulate”和“collect”两词具有相似语义,然而,在英语教学中教师难以解释两者的用法,学生对辨别两者往往感到困惑。基于当代美国英语语料库,比较两者的用法,具体分析两者与介词、基数词和名词的搭配情况,以及类连接,可对两词的教学提供一定的理论参考。
The terms “accumulate” and “collect” have similar semantics. However, it is difficult for teachers to explain the usage of both in English teaching. Students often find it hard to distinguish between the two. Based on the contemporary American English corpus and comparing the usage of the two, a detailed analysis of the collocations of the two with prepositions, cardinal terms and nouns, and class connections provides a theoretical reference for the teaching of the two terms.
