西海固地区是宁夏回族人口的主要聚居地,由于这里基础设施建设滞后,自然灾害频繁,经济与社会发展缓慢,素有“苦瘠甲天下”之称。新中国成立后,党中央、国务院十分关注西海固地区群众的生产生活,从人力、物力、财力等方面给予了该地区大力支持。经过20多年的不懈努力,西海固地区农村群众的生产生活条件明显改善,各项社会事业建设取得长足进展,扶贫开发工作取得了显著成效。
Xihaigu area is the main settlement of the Hui population in Ningxia. Due to the lagging infrastructure construction, frequent natural disasters and slow economic and social development here, the Xihai-gu area is known as the “bitter world”. After the founding of New China, the Central Party Committee and the State Council paid great attention to the production and livelihood of the masses in the Western Haige region and gave strong support to the region in manpower, material and financial resources. After more than 20 years of unremitting efforts, the production and living conditions of rural people in Xihaigu area have obviously improved. Great progress has been made in the construction of various social undertakings, and the poverty alleviation and development work has achieved remarkable results.
