马兰头,别名马兰、田边菊等,属菊科多年生草本植物,以根茎及种子繁殖。马兰头种子无胚乳,千粒重约1.6克,发芽力可保持5年。它的花期5~9月,果期8~10月。马兰头适应性强,喜冷凉湿润的气候,耐热、耐瘠,耐寒性极强,可耐-7℃的低温。生长适温15~20℃,低于12℃或高于20℃,生长缓慢。
