我场地处鄂西山区,?江上沋,海拔1350-1400米,地势开阔;土壤为山地黄壤和黄棕壤,土层深厚,PH5-6.5;年平均气温10-12℃,年降雨量1200-1400毫米,年蒸发量1000毫米左右,年相对湿度84%,日照率35-40%,气候凉爽湿润,适合多种林木生长.从1969年开始,从江西庐山和浙江引种柳杉,共造7590亩,目前,我场成片造林和零星栽植的柳杉,一般都生长良好.
