东京大学图书馆共有590万册图书,是由中心图书馆和分散在10个学部、13个研究所的图书馆和图书室组成的大型图书馆。每个图书馆和图书室又都是独立的单位。日本东京大学图书馆于1986年购入了电子计算机。当年与该校学术情报中心协作,进行了机读综合目录系统的开发工作。1987年6月开始使用机读综合目录检索系统—LILIPUT—OPAC(全称为Local Integrated LibraryInformation system Project.Univers—ity of Tokyo,Online Public AccessCatalog)从此卡片式检索目录转变为联机检索目录。
The University of Tokyo Library, with a total of 5.9 million books, is a large library of central libraries and libraries and libraries scattered across 10 departments and 13 institutes.
