随着现代科技的快速发展和中国的国际地位的提高,中国的英语学习者在学习英语的同时越来越需要掌握好汉语。然而,如今不少的英语专业的学习者的汉语水平令人担忧,很多中学生的汉语基础也很不牢固。这显然不符合社会的需求。在中学阶段,汉语的基础在英语教学中有意或无意地被弱化。一些学习者甚至语言专家都认为学习外语时应该忘掉本族语。事实上,中国学生在没有真正的外语环境的时候,学习者是不可能忘掉汉语的。相反,汉语还是英语学习的坚实基础。本文简要地阐述了汉语是英语学习的基础这一事实,并提醒学习者应重视汉语基础的学习。
With the rapid development of modern science and technology and the improvement of China’s international status, English learners in China increasingly need to master Chinese while learning English. However, many English majors nowadays worry about the Chinese proficiency and many Chinese students have a weak Chinese foundation. This obviously does not meet the needs of society. In secondary school, the foundation of Chinese is weakened intentionally or unintentionally in English teaching. Some learners and even linguists think that you should forget the native language when learning a foreign language. In fact, Chinese students can not forget Chinese without a real foreign language environment. On the contrary, Chinese is still a solid foundation for English learning. This article briefly illustrates the fact that Chinese is the foundation of English learning and reminds learners to emphasize the learning of Chinese.
