由加拿大传教士启尔德(Omar L.Kilborn,1867—1920)编写,出版于1917年的《华西初级汉语课程》,是20世纪初为数不多的教授外国人成都话的一部重要口语教材。我们通过研读该教材的序言和内容发现,启尔德倡导的“先语后文”“认写分流”“科学记忆”等汉字教学理念和学习方法,极具现代价值,不仅可以为当前的对外汉字教学提供借鉴,而且也可以为国际汉语教学史的研究提供参考。
Written by Omar L.Kilborn (1867-1920), a Canadian missionary, and published in 1917, “Huaxi Elementary Chinese Course” is one of the few important oral teaching materials to teach foreigners in the early 20th century in Chengdu dialect . Through studying the preface and contents of the textbook, we find that the teaching concepts and learning methods of Chinese characters like “Preface and Afterword”, “Recognition and Divergence of Scientific Writings” It can not only provide reference for the current teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, but also provide a reference for the study of the history of international Chinese teaching.
