3Com recently introduced L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Pro-tocol) and expanded IPsec (Internet Protocol Security) the latest software to further expand the VPN solution for the user. By applying these new enhancements to the 3Com NETBuicder product line and Total Control remote access platform product line, enterprise and network service providers (NSPs) can now build new networks or upgrade their existing networks based on standards-based VPN solutions. The L2TP standard is currently adopted by the Internet Engineering Council (IETF) as a standard for establishing a network “tunnel” in a WAN infrastructure. IPsec standards include many security standards such as encryption, digital visa and key management. IPsec and L2TP combine to create a standards-based, secure WAN connection at a common IP network facility. L2TP and IPsec are included in the 11.1 version of NETBuilder software,
