牛僧孺的《玄怪录》,长期以来未见传本,《四库全书》只在存目里著录了一卷残本。因此郑振铎先生曾据《太平广记》辑录得佚文三十三篇,汇集出一个残本,刊于《世界文库》第十卷。六十年代我在北京图书馆见到了明陈应翔刻四卷本《幽怪录》(幽字,宋人避玄字而改),书中收故事四十四篇,与《百川书志》所载相符,惊喜不已,就抄出了一部分它独有的佚文,准备校补。过了十几年,我才把《玄怪录》全书进行了校点.交中
