四川广播电视大学凉山州分校位于四川省凉山彝族自治州的州府所在地西昌市。凉山州是全国最大的彝族聚居地区,总面积6万余平方公里,境内居住着彝、汉、藏、回、蒙古、苗、傈僳、纳西、布依、傣、壮、白等十多种民族,总人口371万,其中少数民族172万,占46.36％;彝族160万,占总人口的43.13％。境内地表起伏甚大,高差极为悬殊。 自古以来,凉山就是四川通住西南边陲的重要通道,是攀西经济区的重要组成部分。州内矿产、水能、光热生物和旅游资源十分丰富,被誉为全国的“金三角”、长江上游的“聚宝盆”、世界水能的“大宝库”、中国的“乌拉尔”,是一个极有价值、亟待开发的地区。
