作为当代日本文坛上具有代表意义的作家大江健三郎 ,他的作品呈现出扑朔迷离和怪异的征候 ,对其主题的理解往往产生较大的差异。从不同层面深入研究他的“乌托邦—森林意识”小说的主题 ,可看出他的乌托邦存在于“森林和山谷”,但又不等同于现实 ,虚构与现实泾渭分明 ,却又随意叠加 ,反映了“死与再生”的共同主题。作为一位民主主义者 ,大江始终以理性的头脑思索对象 ,他的作品不同于传统意义上的日本纯文学 ,体现了日本新文学的社会性、理想性和批判性的特点。他是一位从故乡走向世界的日本作家
