Many articles discuss the effect of normal exercise on lowering essential hypertension. Because many studies are not the same, this article examines the long-term effects of different activities in a group of patients with essential hypertension. Thirteen patients were studied. Patients should have been on medication for at least three months before the start of the study, all of whom are accustomed to sitting and never participating in strenuous exercise for at least one year. The criteria for inclusion in the study were blood pressure above 20 / 12kpa. Patients were initially monitored for six weeks prior to the start of the exercise program, during which time the blood pressure was regularly adjusted to the patient. The study consisted of three phases, each of four weeks. In the first phase, the patient was seated; in the second phase, the patient completed the exercise of 60-70% of the maximum workload for 45 minutes three times a week; in the third phase, seven times a week at the same intensity.
