Aims: To explore the impact of different decision-making tasks with high / low conflict on subsequent executive control. Methods: Forty subjects were randomly assigned to a high-conflict ethical dilemma task group involving personal feelings and a low conflict and ethics-free task group of decision-making. They then examined the differences in performance control scores between the two groups. Results: Subjects who completed the ethical dilemma decision-making task involving personal emotions performed worse in the subsequent multi-source conflict tasks than those who made ethical decision-making. Moreover, under the conditions of the multi-source conflict task, the differences between the groups are greater, and the participants who complete the task of moral dilemma involving personal emotions perform even worse than those who complete the decision-making process with moral independence. CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that decision-making tasks with different conflicts have different effects on subsequent executive control. The greater the conflict, the worse the subsequent performance control. The study helps to further deepen our understanding of the differences between ethical and non-ethical decision-making and the relationship between decision-making and executive control.
