曾在清华、北大任教20多年的吴宓,是一位学贯中西而通古今的国际知名学者。邓小平曾称他是文科领域里的李四光。新中国成立初期,在重庆私立北碚相辉学院(后合并为西南师范学院)任教授的吴宓,与当时任中共中央西南局书记的邓小平有一面之交。

At the beginning of the People’s Republic of China, Wu Mi, a professor at Chongqing’s private Beibei Xianghu College (later merged into Southwestern Teachers’ College), had his turn with Deng Xiaoping, then secretary of the CPC Central Committee’s southwest bureau.
