民国时期是闽剧艺术大变革的时代。受当时席卷全国的戏曲改良浪潮影响,城镇中相继建立了新型现代剧场,新潮演剧竞相展现,闽剧舞台艺术也进行了全面的变革,古装戏在传统基础上对人物造型加大创新与美化的力度,出现了新颖的人物装扮;在注重艺术作品反映现实生活方面,闽剧纷纷向“文明戏”学习,接连推出了接近生活真实的、丰富多彩的时装戏人物造型。
