去年底，联合国秘书长安南的夫人来中国了解艾滋病防治情况，她认为中国能够做好艾滋病的防治工作，是对世界的巨大贡献；就像中国对人口的控制和基本解决人民的温饱，对世界的稳定发展做出了巨大的贡献一样。在北京的估安医院，当她听说一些被亲属遗弃的艾滋病人，得到“爱心家园”的悉心照料，他们称“爱心家园”的创始人徐莲芝大夫为徐妈妈时，安南夫人显得很激动，还说这是世界上最美妙、最动人的称呼，简直太动人了！
