在河南省新乡市档案馆馆藏的抗战时期的档案《督政纪要》中,一篇题为《新乡地区营救美籍空军副指挥狄士威上校脱险记》的文章,记载了中国民众营救“飞虎队”队员的整个过程……美军飞行员从天而降1945年3月20日,4架美国飞机出现在河南新乡市获嘉县郭提车站上空,对日寇的一列军用列车俯冲扫射。瞬间,列车上的军火弹药发生爆炸。但一架飞机不幸中弹起火,飞行员被迫跳伞降落在获嘉县刘固堤村西。这个跳伞逃生的飞行员正是美国援华空军第十四航空队
