夏茂是沙县的农业重镇和商贸重镇,是沙县的粮食主产区,自古即为沙县重要的商品集散地。全镇面积247.9平方公里,辖27个行政村和1个社区居委会,现有人口3.85万人。夏茂地处与沙县毗邻的将乐、顺昌、归化等县要冲。既是扼守中央苏区的南大门,又是开展东线战局的战备要地。在土地革命战争时期,夏茂人民为中国革命作出了巨大贡献,付出了巨大牺牲,在沙县苏区占有特殊的地位。
Xiamao Shaxian County is the agricultural town and commerce center, is the main grain-producing areas in Shaxian County since Shaxian important commodity distribution center. The town covers an area of 247.9 square kilometers, administer 27 administrative villages and a community neighborhood committee, the existing population of 38500 people. Xiamao and Shaxian County is located next to the music, Shunchang, naturalization and other counties to be washed. It is not only the south gate of the Central Soviet Area, but also the war preparation for launching the eastern war. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Xiamao people made tremendous contributions to the Chinese revolution, paid a great sacrifice and took a special place in the Soviet Area of Shaxian County.
