南城县,位于赣东中部,县域面积1698平方公里,辖8镇4乡150个村,总人口31万。南城,千年古邑、历史悠久。汉高祖5年(公元前202年)建县,迄今2208年,是江西省建县最早的18个古县之一。素有“赣地名府、抚郡望县”之称。明太祖朱元璋六世益端王朱佑槟曾就藩于南城,历史上称建昌府。南城,有着丰富的古代遗存和风景名胜,如著名的明代益王墓葬群遗址,江西省现存最长的明代石拱桥万年桥,最完整的长达1500米的宋代占城墙等。素有“秀出东南、洞天福地”之美称的麻姑山,神话传说“麻姑献寿”、“沧海桑田”就缘出于此。还有风光秀丽的洪门水库、从姑山、毕姑山等,与古老的万年桥、聚星塔交相辉映,共同构成一幅秀美的山水画卷,被国家旅游局辟为全国31条旅游热线
