品种及其选择一些草类在温暖气候生长最盛,有些则适应冷凉地带。草因而多归纳为两大类:暖季型草类——炎热时生长最旺盛;冷季型草类——凉快时生长最旺盛。香港位于亚热带区域,夏天气候炎热潮湿,冬天清凉干燥。很多优质草坪用草的冷季型草类,并不适用于香港,因它们不能抵受极其炎热的夏季。绝大部分的香港观赏及运动用草种都是暖季型草类。这些草种可以在香港冬天生存,在庇护地方和得到细心照顾的,更可以保持相当良好状态。现时狗牙根(百慕达草)的“Tif”系列培育杂交种如天堂草(Tifton)和天威草(Tifway)已被专选作运动用草地。此等杂交培育种既有狗牙根草的优良遗存,更有抗病力高,抗杂草,高密度,少花穗,纤幼柔软、色泽佳等优点。百喜草(Bahia grass)健壮和根系
Varieties and their selection Some grasses grow most in warm climates, while others adapt to cool terrain. Grass and therefore summarized into two broad categories: warm-season grass - the most vigorous growth in hot weather; cold season grass - cool when the most vigorous growth. Hong Kong is located in the subtropical region with hot and humid summer and cool and dry winter. Many high-quality grassy cold-season grasses do not apply to Hong Kong because they can not withstand the extremely hot summers. Most of the ornamental and sports grasses in Hong Kong are warm-season grasses. These grass species can survive in Hong Kong in winter, take shelter care and are able to maintain a fairly good condition. The current “Tif” line of Bermudagrass (Bermudagrass) breed hybrids such as Tifton and Tifway have been specifically selected as sporting grass. These hybrid cultivars not only have the excellent remains of Bermudagrass, but also have the advantages of high disease resistance, resistance to weeds, high density, less spikes, slender fiber, good color and so on.
