欧洲鳗是世界上诸多品种鳗鱼中,可以发展养殖的鳗种之一,主要产地在法国、英国、荷兰、丹麦等地。欧洲鳗的鳗苗资源极为丰富,价格很便宜,今年一条只有1元多,相当于日本鳗苗的九分之一到八分之一,但西欧因养殖成本高昂,养殖者甚少。世界上不少国家和地区,都想利用这个廉价的苗种资源,在日本试养了24年,在我国台湾也试养了21年,近几年也从不同渠道流进了我国大陆,但都因技术问题及没有掌握欧洲鳗的生活习性和寄生虫的防治方法,而告失败。
