创作文人树,没有固定模式的束缚,只要遵循美学的规律,符合文人树的基本特质及植物生长的要求即可,其自由发挥的空间极大。《临虚》就是完全按照主观理想的树形构思创作的。素材为一株主干细瘦,但树高近150公分的田培真柏苗,当时的树龄约20年(图1)。2003年开始创作。首先对枝干做初步调整,紧贴着主干衬以两根粗金属丝,然后用麻皮缠裹主干,保护树皮在整形时不受伤害(图2)。
