许寿裳为出版第一部《鲁迅全集》所作出的努力和贡献,是不应该被后人所忘怀的。绍兴鲁迅纪念馆编注的《许寿裳书信选集》中,选录自1936年10月28日到1938年5月29日许寿裳给蔡元培和许广平的30余封信,无不与编辑出版《鲁迅全集》有关。鲁迅逝世两天后,即1936年10月21日,许寿裳就写信给蔡元培,提出出版《鲁迅全集》之事。从那时起,他为出版第一部《鲁迅全集》殚精竭虑,四处奔走,做了多方面的努力,举其要者,大致有五:
Xu Shoushang published the first “Complete Works of Lu Xun,” the efforts and contributions made should not be forgotten future generations.
