Digital公司正当其父公司Compaq发出强烈暗示将取消Digital的PC业务的时刻,于2月中旬交付了一款新的台式PC系统。据悉,Digital公司新推出的Digital PC 3500将作为Digital公司廉价台式系统中性能最佳的产品出现在市场上。 Digital PC 3500的起价为1380美元,配置包括一个233MHz Pentium Ⅱ、32MB RAM、3.2GB硬盘及ClientWorks管理软件。据该公司的官员称,该系统采用了微型塔式及“比萨饼盒”结构的机箱设计,并配有加速图形端口AGP及来自Matrox Graphics公司和其它公司的可选三维图形功能。在企业台式机市场上,Digital公司一直维持着不足2％的市场份额,而Compaq公司自1995年以来一直占据着业界首位的市场份额。
Just as its parent company, Compaq, made a strong suggestion that it would cancel Digital’s PC business, Digital delivered a new desktop PC in mid-February. It is reported that Digital’s new Digital PC 3500 will be the best performance of Digital’s cheap desktop system in the market. The Digital PC 3500 starts at $ 1,380 and includes a 233MHz Pentium II, 32MB RAM, 3.2GB hard drive and ClientWorks management software. According to company officials, the system uses a mini-tower and “pizza box” chassis design with an accelerated graphics port, AGP, and optional 3D graphics from Matrox Graphics and other companies. In the corporate desktop market, Digital has maintained less than 2% market share, while Compaq has been the industry’s # 1 market share since 1995.
