Because environmental protection involves the safe use of coal, the contribution of coal preparation to the environment becomes even more important. More public and environmental concerns are the emission of toxic elements. Numerous studies have found that the elements arsenic, cadmium, lead, copper, mercury, nickel, selenium, manganese and zinc pose potentially serious threats to human health and the environment. I. Trace Elements in Coal In the United States, the trace element content in coal varies considerably from coal to coal, including the Great Northern Plains, the Rocky Mountains, the Inland Basins, the Gulf and the Appalachian Range Coalfields, Table 1 lists the nine kinds of trace elements involved in this paper in the coal field average content.
