让沙漠变良田,一直是科学家的梦想。如今,这个梦想向现实迈出了一大步。卡塔尔科学家在沙漠中建立了一个试点工厂,工厂的核心其实是高科技的温室。在温室的一头是栅格状的设备,咸水流过设备,被风吹后,会产生凉爽而湿润的空气,空气会释放到作物的周围,起到降低温度的作用。要知道在沙漠地区,高温是作物的大敌,降温会让作物生长得更好。这种设备能够让空气温度下降10度,使温室中的作物茁壮生长。而在温室的另一头有特殊的管网,一些冷海水流经管网,空气接触冷的管网后冷凝,产生淡水,这些淡水被收集起来,用于浇灌作物。
