塞威氏苹果(Malus Sieversii Ldb)俗称野苹果,在新疆有大面积的野生林,种籽来源容易,各地用作苹果、梨、黄海棠等栽培品种的砧木,故育苗面积很大.兵团石河子总场1959—1960年播种野苹果180余亩,用种200余斤,生产苗木100余万株.在生产与科研相结合的原则下,分期于春夏秋冬四季播种,生长期间进行了调查总结,用以确定其播种适期.
