Since the mid-1950s, Hong Kong’s economy has seen rapid growth. From a transit port, Hong Kong has developed into an important manufacturing center for light industry and later became an international financial center. The GNP grew at an average rate of 6.3% per annum in the 1950s, an average of 9% per annum between 1961 and 1976, while the rate of growth in the five years between 1977 and 1981 has remained above 10%. The unparalleled development in this world has gained universal prominence. Many scholars at home and abroad have conducted extensive research and discussion on the development model and experience of Hong Kong’s economy and the changes in the economic structure in the course of development from a macroeconomic point of view. As Hong Kong is beginning to make a transition to a new historical stage, We need to further explore the issue of Hong Kong’s economic development in an in-depth way.This article tries to summarize the process of Hong Kong’s economic development from a historical perspective in order to facilitate the study.However, the term “economic development” in macroeconomics means " Actual national income in the long run
