名者,名誉、称号、声望也;位者,身份、职位、位分也。此二者常常形影不离,相辅相成,在中华民族传统的伦理观念中,曾被视为比生命还要贵重的东西,被当作人生追逐的最高目标。为了名节,一个普通的老百姓可以宁死不食嗟来之食;为求一官半职,许多文人寒士不惜倾家荡产,悬梁刺股,奋斗一辈子。
Name, reputation, title, prestige also; bit, identity, position, bitwise also. The two are often inseparable and complement each other.
